The three motivations given below also serve as a back-drop for the love stories that Maria experiences in the series of novels I have written.
First, I witnessed this that period, dubbed 'The Greatest Generation,' and because of that, I wanted to tell the world about the honor and commitment America had to pull themselves out of the Great Depression, the sacrifices made to win the Second World War and the coming Korean Conflict, and the subsequent years after that unique time.
Secondly, through Maria's determination and the men in her life, including her father and step-father, she lets women know who are reading the books that they have been emancipated and can reach for a career outside of the home.
Thirdly, the books give the message in various ways that there is a loving God who takes care of everyone no matter whether one belongs to organized religion, just loves Christ, or doesn't know what he believes.
